SuperValu is extremely cognisant of the Humanitarian Crisis that has developed in Ukraine and is particularly aware of the desire by it’s Customers, Operating Partners and other’s to help where possible.
The purpose of this document is to outline new policy cover benefits, that can help our Customer’s do this and to do so with peace of mind that their cover is still in place or is adequate for the support intended.
The following FAQ’s may answer your question, but as this situation is evolving daily, please contact our customer service team for any specific or additional queries on 0818 01 01 01.
We are happy to change the policy from a Holiday Home Policy to a Landlord Policy (regardless of whether income is being received). This policy is more appropriate as there will be people living in the house on a permanent basis and the terms and conditions apply to this policy. SuperValu Insurance will NOT CHARGE any additional premium as part of the policy adjustment, but the renewal will be offered based on the rented product if the property is still being lived in permanently. To ensure the renewal reflects the right price and cover, please advise us closer to the renewal date of any change in this arrangement.
Where you are allowing people to move into your property and you are not receiving income, SuperValu Insurance will consider them a guest and part of the household and NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE will apply.
If you are receiving any payment whether it’s state funded, privately funded or charity funded, we will need to add an endorsement to the policy noting you having paying lodgers. However, SuperValu Insurance will not apply the usual additional charge (€60 per person) as part of the initial mid term notification but the next renewal will be offered with the standard charge for paying lodgers (if the cover is still required). To ensure the renewal reflects the right price and cover, please advise us closer to the renewal date of any change in this arrangement.
Once the driver meets the criteria of the policy/vehicle, we can add them to the policy. We will require you to confirm the use of the vehicle. It must be noted that a full Ukrainian licence cannot be changed automatically to an Irish Licence. Ukrainian full licence holders can drive for up to a year in Ireland on their current driving licence. After 12 months they must apply for an Irish learner permit. If the Irish government adds Ukraine to the list of Recognised Exchange States, our approach will be updated accordingly.
Once you are receiving no payment and are working as a volunteer, this use is covered under the social, domestic and pleasure criteria. Where advised the policy should be noted. If the charity requires you to provide a letter of indemnity, SuperValu Insurance will provide this at NO CHARGE. We would request that you specify how often this will be done e.g. once a week, for 2 weeks only or every day so that this can be noted on the policy.
