Make unforgettable memories with the kids with these simple and delicious  festive cookies. Children love to decorate them; it's a great treat to leave out for Santa on Christmas Eve!

  • 0.5 tsp Baking Powder
  • 125 g Butter softened
  • 150 g Caster Sugar
  • 1 - Egg
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 270 g SuperValu Plain Flour
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

To Decorate

  • 60 g Fondant icing, cut into circles for eyes
  • 20 g Icing Powder mixed with 1 tsp water to make a paste
  • 1 - Red and Brown Sweets of choice for antlers and nose


  1. Preheat oven to 180˚C. Beat the sugar and butter until pale.
  2. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and combine.
  3. Sieve the flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl.
  4. Combine with the wet ingredients until a dough forms.
  5. Refrigerate for 1 hour, this will make it much easier to work with.
  6. Roll the dough to a thickness of ¼ inch.
  7. Cut the shapes out in a heart to make your reindeer face.
  8. Lay the cookies on a baking tray and cook for 6-8 minutes.
  9. Cool on a raised wire rack and decorate with sweets and coloured icing. Enjoy!
