1. Can I get this from my local SuperValu?
These cakes are available in selected stores only. Just ask in store at the deli counter or contact the store directly. All store contact details can be found here.
2. How much notice do I need to give my local SuperValu to order my cake?
Approximately 2 weeks should be enough time.
3. Does SuperValu decorate the cake for me?
Unfortunately we don’t provide this service, but please check our cake decorating section for some really easy to put together inspirational ideas.
4. When to serve?
This is one of our most commonly asked questions. It can be served at any time. Most often the cheese cake is disassembled and used as a cheeseboard as an after dinner option which many people prefer to a sweet wedding cake dessert. You should enquire with your venue or caterer to see if they would help with this. Why not also consider it for later in the evening as finger food, a lavish wedding reception, day after or a wedding breakfast with a twist. Simply serve with crackers, fruit, quince and chutneys of your choice.
5. How to pick your cheese cake?
We have hand-selected some combinations to create a perfectly balanced cheeseboard that will stack together nicely and will best suit a variety of tastes, seasons and budgets. The types of cheeses in your cake can of course be tailored to suit your individual taste or changed to include some personal favourites. Please note not all cheeses come in wheels so check this out at the deli when ordering. If you altering the combinations of cheese in your cake please bear in mind that the wheels come in varying sizes and may not all stack neatly.
Prices shown are total approximate costs, total cost will be based on the weight of the actual cheese. As weights of cheeses can vary, prices will also vary but only slightly (a couple of euros up or down).
7. Will my cheese cake start smelling during the day?
As with a traditional wedding cake, you will need to ensure it is properly looked after. It should not be stacked next to a fire or exposed to hot weather, excessive sunlight etc. Cheese is ideally served at room temperature and given that these are big wheels of cheese it will take a couple of hours for the cheese to get to room temperature. We do not advise that you leave the cheese cake in a warm environment for longer than 3-4 hours.
8. Do people serve these at other events outside of weddings?
Yes, cheese cakes are becoming very popular for birthday celebrations, communions, confirmations, anniversary parties, you name it!
9. Who can I speak to about the Cheese Cakes?
A: You can contact the Cheese Expert in your local SuperValu store or give Kerrie a call in our Head Office during Office Hours - 021- 4803943.
