SuperValu Sweeps the board at the Blas na hEireann National Irish Food Awards.

The SuperValu Range swept the board at the Blas na hÉireann awards winning 14 medals in total; four gold, eight silver and two bronze – beating off stiff competition and taking home more awards than any other Irish retailer. All the products from the SuperValu Range which received awards are supplied locally by Irish Food Suppliers.

To have 14 of our products receive medals is a tremendous achievement and it marks a huge vote of confidence in the quality and taste credentials of this range.

The winners were announced Saturday night at a gala awards ceremony in the Dingle Skellig Hotel, as part of the Dingle Peninsula Food Festival, demonstrating the quality, taste and great variety available from the SuperValu range, which costs on average one third less than similar leading brands.

Speaking about the awards, Martin Kelleher, Managing Director, SuperValu, said: "We are incredibly proud that our SuperValu Range has featured so prominently at the Blas na hÉireann Awards. Blas na hÉireann is the biggest blind tasting competition of its kind in the world. Over 2,000 Irish products were entered into 50 different categories, ranging from soup to seafood and chocolate to cheese, with winners from all over the country taking Gold, Silver and Bronze medals in each category. Each product was blind tasted by a panel of 40 judges made up of chefs, foodies and food scientists from University College Cork.
