UC Nuts
UC Nuts was officially set up in December 2018 in Longford town to be precise Unit1, Farneyhoogan Athlone road, Longford (Sole Trader).
Between 2018 and 2020 I would say we were setting up things, getting equipment and generally trying to get our acts together.
It was not until sometime in 2020 that our first production happened. This was great. The production unit is in the same place as unit 1 farneyhoogan. It wasn’t easy I must say but I was focused and committed to it and I made up my mind that there was no going back. We started supplying our roasted peanuts , almonds and roasted cashew to big wholesalers retail shops and then decided to look inwards. Locally here in Longford so we started selling to some of our local shops here in Longford . Then a lockdown happened. This really hit us as a new company just starting out. Production stopped after the lockdown. We started planning on how to have lunch back and then I stumbled on a food academy on one of my social media and something said to me this is what you need now. So I applied and luckily was chosen and since food academy started it's been a life changing experience and I have benefited immensely from it. Food academy opened my eyes to so many things I was blinded to as a business owner. It has made me a better business person who really knows what she is doing both pricewise brandwise and other areas. I am better equipped and knowledgeable too. Our packaging and raw materials are very sustainable since they are locally sourced and we are working towards reducing plastic and using more recyclable packaging in the future also.
