Spice Genie
Chris’s venture began in October 2020, in the farmer’s markets in Wilton, Midleton and Kinsale, where he cooks and sells fresh, authentic Indian curries once weekly in each location.
After a harsh first winter trading from a stall, he established Spice Genie Limited in April 2021 and purchased his first trailer that May. One year later, in May 2022, Chris competed in and ultimately won RTE’s Battle of the Food Trucks. In October 2022, he bought his second trailer and he is currently fitting out a base kitchen which is planned to open in early 2023.
The Food Academy program at SuperValu has been invaluable, with many lessons for budding food producers in areas such as labelling, branding, marketing, pricing or quality control, among others. The program is well paced and has helped Chris focus on developing his product for the shelf. Chris’s business is growing and he will soon take on his first full-time employees.
All packaging and labelling will be 100% recyclable.
