O'Mimo's
Background
Mimo and her husband, Seamus live in Portarlington, Co. Laois where they produce
O'Mimo's Chilli Madness products. O’Mimo’s was started in March 2020, with the
development of the recipes, taste surveys and limited market research.
O’Mimo’s is a member of Laois Taste, a group of 25 small food producers in County Laois.
O’Mimo’s would like to thank the Laois Taste group, Local Enterprise Office and Laois
County Council who have been very supportive in helping getting our product to market.
In 2022 O’Mimo’s was successful in their application to the Food Academy programme. The
programme has been an enormous benefit in introducing and reinforcing the business aspects
of financial control, marketing/branding and Food Safety. O’Mimo’s would like to thank
Supervalu, Bord Bia and all members of the Food Academy team who have been an inspiring
resource throughout the programme.
The Products
O’Mimo’s is passionate about all things Chilli and at the moment produce 4 products for sale
under the O'Mimo's Chilli Madness brand. Three of the Chilli Sauces are different chilli
combinations and spices with no fillers and they are varying degrees of hotness for the
diverse and discerning palate. O'Mimo's Chilli Madness also produce a unique, Apple Chilli
Sage Jam made with Irish Bramley apples, which is our best seller.
The products are all Vegan and made in small batches in a purpose built home kitchen that is
approved and audited by the HSE EHO.
Our passion, for all things Chilli, is exploring the Irish Market and the diversity and
versatility that Irish consumers have come to expect. O'Mimo's versatility, lends itself to be
used in a variety of ways. O'Mimos Chilli Sauces are a Chilli lover's delight. Enjoy it as a
dip, a sauce, a condiment, a marinade or throw it in a curry. Mix it up with some mayo for a
sandwich or in some sour cream or yogurt as a dip. Eat it as a salsa, topped on some nachos
or tacos, with a slice of cheese, in an avocado or even on a banana.
O'Mimo's Chilli Sage Jam is a perfect marriage of sweet and spicy. Add a kick to any cheese
board, enjoy it with a sausage or a sausage roll or a pork roast. Mix with soya sauce and
grated ginger for a divine marinade for pork or chicken. Eat it with a curry. Explore tossing
it with tofu or tempeh. The possibilities are endless.
