Garryhinch Wood Exotic Mushrooms
Garryhinch Wood Exotic is a long-standing family run farm by Joe & Dolores Gorman. Our Organic farm is located on the banks of the river Barrow on the borders of counties Laois and Offaly. We have been in mushroom farming for over 30 years supplying appetising and nutritious mushrooms to the retail Sector, food services sector and farmers markets all across Ireland.
We presently grow a wide range of wild exotic organic mushrooms which are cultivated on wooden blocks made from trees sourced from sustainably managed forests. These tasty mushrooms have a high nutritional value, and have also amazing benefits like lowering cholesterol, helps to fight infection and builds the immune system.
Our ethos is to produce high quality organic exotic mushrooms that are tasty and appetising whilst delivering an array of health and nutritional benefits. Our products are grown under carefully controlled conditions and hence are available all year round.
Our spent mushroom substrate is recycled back to nature in classical circular fashion by using it as a fertilizer/soil enhancer on local land. We have a small dedicated team of seven people whom work as a family. We continually strive to delivery great attention to detail and customer service.
The SuperValu Food Academy has been a great experience and has made the process seamless and we learnt a lot by taking part in the programme. As a company we support all things local in our community.
We currently grow Shiitake, King Oyster, Yellow Oyster, Grey Oyster, Pink Oyster, Lions Mane Maitake, Nameko and White Beech mushrooms on our farm in Garryhinch. All our mushrooms are Organic, Chemical free and are Certified by the Irish Organic Association and Bord Bia.
