Da Costa Family Tiramisù

Many of you who have followed our Tiramisù journey know that we once lived in Rome, Italy. In Italy, tiramisù is the dessert—beloved, iconic, and endlessly reinvented in different flavours, shapes, and recipes.  

When we moved to Waterford, we never imagined we would one day start a business selling tiramisù. We had heard wonderful things about Ireland—its landscapes, its people, its culture—and they all proved true.  

We tried nearly all the Irish pastries, but something still felt missing… something ITALIANO. One day, my husband suggested I try selling my tiramisù to our neighbours. At first, I laughed and told him the idea was crazy. But he kept encouraging me—and soon enough, I found myself in the kitchen preparing tiramisù for twenty people who had already placed orders.  

That’s how it all began.  

We registered the business and opened our production facility in Waterford. We started attending markets across Ireland, and we are genuinely thrilled by how warmly Irish people have embraced our products.  Our range includes a Tiramisù Classico and Tiramisù Pistacchio, both using authentic Italian tradition while the pistachio adds a twist on the classic. We use delicate savoiardi biscuits soaked in rich espresso, layered with a smooth and creamy mascarpone filling, and finished with a light dusting of premium cocoa. The result is a perfectly balanced dessert—velvety, indulgent, and not overly sweet, with a deep coffee aroma in every bite. Our pistachio tiramisù combines the same creamy mascarpone layers with high-quality pistachio cream, offering a rich and luxurious taste experience. 

The name Da’Costa Family was chosen to represent the heart of our project — family, tradition, and the passion for authentic tiramisu. 

One thing we’ve learned is this: even if it seems like many others are more successful, there is always space for you too. No industry has ever said, “We have enough talented people—please try somewhere else.” There is room and opportunity for each of us to rise in our chosen field. And we chose to bring you the very best of our Italian tradition—Tiramisù Da’Costa Family.  

My husband and I have learned to shift roles depending on the season we’re in. Rome wasn’t built in a day. And neither is a Tiramisù empire. But every day we keep building, with heart and passion, to bring you the finest tiramisù we can make. It is possible to build a life around something you love.

There are so many small businesses out there trying to survive and be noticed, but sometimes they struggle, often because of fear. After all, it is a big risk: you sacrifice time with your family, the security you once had, and you question every day whether you’re doing the right thing. But as I always say, if you don’t take risks, you’ll never know how far you can go.  

Thanks to this program, I became a stronger version of myself—like the woman I was back in Italy, without fear and without doubt. I am deeply grateful to the entire team for believing in Tiramisù Da’ Costa Family. And for us businesswomen, it is always an honour to achieve milestones like these.
