Anchor Spirits Ireland Limited was set up in 2012 and brought their first product to market in January 2014. The first product was Muldoon Irish Whiskey Liqueur, a non cream whiskey liqueur that has been warmly welcomed. It has won several awards including a Gold Medal from the Irish Whiskey Awards and most recently received international recognition by winning a Silver IWSC medal.
The second product, Thin Gin a full 40% robust gin, was only on the market a few weeks when it won Best Irish Gin in 2015 and went on to take the Gold Medal at the I.W.A. awards last October.
Anchor Spirits has just released a third product, a spiced rum. The rum is being imported from the Caribbean and spiced in Ireland.
Recently Anchor Spirits moved its headquarters into one of the most iconic buildings in Ireland. The company resides at 33 The Mall, Waterford, the site where the Irish flag was first unveiled to the Irish people. The original window from where it was unfurled still exists today and is now the window of Anchor Spirits Limited’s main meeting room. The flag flies proudly from the front of the building.
SuperValu Kilbarry (Waterford) allowed us to put a branded barrel on the floor to hold our products. Allowing Thin Gin and Muldoon space on the floor has meant that, according to SuperValu Kilbarry, Thin Gin is now their number one selling gin.
Anchor Spirits Ireland Limited now employs 5 people (full and part-time) and additional workers when necessary. We also source as many services and supplies as possible from our local area. From accountancy to design services to demonstrators, it is important for us to stay as local as possible. We also support many local charities and we are continuously called on to sponsor the arts in the area. This is something both the Muldoon and Thin Gin brand have actively embraced.
