Afro Caribbean Kitchen

Afro Caribbean Kitchen is a family run business, set up in January 2022 under the trading name Zeebah’s Foods. Currently, we operate the business from our family home located at 6 Mulberry Close, Ballinode, Sligo, though domestic, our Kitchen is HSE approved for food production. As the business grows, we aim to move to a commercial production unit.

As a Nigerian living in Ireland for over 17 years, I love preparing food from my roots as they are always full of flavour. Due to my passion for food, I enrolled to study at St. Angela’s College, Sligo where I obtained a Hons Degree in B.A.Science in Nutrition, Food and Business Management finishing with 2.1.

During my course of study in Year 3, research showed that there’s gap in the Irish market for more ethnic food products particularly, Afro Caribbean’s. The Food Academy opportunity presented itself in February 2022 and I was enlisted for the FA 22/23.

Our cooking sauces are earthy, warm, infused with irresistible flavours and rich in quality as they are made from 100% natural ingredients. Though our products are ethnic sauces, it will interest consumers to know that all our ingredients are locally sourced from Ireland.

We are committed to ensuring that we deliver nothing but the best from our Kitchen to yours; therefore, we are determined not to outsource the production of our products to maintain the highest quality and authenticity of our sauces.

Being on the Supervalu program has been a huge blessing to our business. From the FA mentors to meeting successful businessmen and women within the food sector, to the wealth of knowledge and resources at our disposal on the program, I have learnt practical ways to succeed in the food sector, and what to do and what not. I see SuperValu as a pathway to bigger opportunity.

I believe that our business will create more jobs within Sligo once we open for production. We also plan to work with Meals on Wheels (Sligo Social Services) in the near future.

Sustainability is key to us at Zeebah’s Foods, so we are working towards ensuring that all our packaging is reusable and recyclable.
