McInerney's Of Loughrea

McInerneys general merchants store was founded in 1891 by Michael McInerney on the main street in Loughrea. The business has traded through two World wars, 6 recessions, the invention of the motor car, and is now run by the founders great grandson, Michael McInerney IV.

McInerneys joined Supervalu in 1979, one of the first stores to do so and has enjoyed a successful partnership with Musgrave plc culminating in the opening of their state of the art 25,000sq supermarket in 2009 where they now serve 1m customers every year. The store has won numerous retail awards in recent years including the Supervalu store of the year title and the Best fresh food supermarket in Ireland in 2014 to name a few.

The store was originally founded with the basic principles of customer care, quality, community support and value for money and apart from online shopping, this formula hasn’t changed in 130 years..
