Garlic Gratin Garlic Gratin

This is already a traditional hit with most families, but with a modern twist using the fabulous SuperValu Signature Tastes Smoked Garlic

  • 1 clove Garlic crushed
  • 250 ml Milk
  • 0 - Pepper
  • 0 - Salt
  • 500 ml SuperValu Cream
  • 1 kg SuperValu Rooster Potatoes thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp Wholegrain Mustard


Preheat the oven to 160°C/gas mark 3.

Layer the potatoes in a deep ceramic baking dish.

Put the cream, milk and smoked garlic in a large saucepan set over a medium-high heat. Bring to the boil, then remove the pan from the heat, stir in the mustard and season with salt and pepper. Carefully pour the cream mixture over the potatoes until they are completely covered. Press gently to release any pockets of air trapped inside the layers and top up with extra cream if needed.

Loosely cover the top of the dish with a piece of non-stick baking paper, then a layer of foil. Bake in the oven for 1 hour 20 minutes, then remove the foil and baking paper and continue baking for a further 20 to 25 minutes, until the potatoes are cooked through and lightly coloured.

Keep warm and serve when required.
