  • 1 tsp Bread Soda
  • 2 tbsp Milk
  • 450 g Plain Flour
  • 350 ml SuperValu Buttermilk
  • 1 pinch SuperValu Salt


  1. Preheat the oven to 150˚C / 300˚F.
  2. In a large bowl, sieve the plain flour and the bread soda, and add the salt.
  3. Pour in the buttermilk and combine until soft “sticky” dough is achieved.
  4. Transfer the dough into a 2Lb floured bread loaf tin.
  5. Brush the bread with a light coating of milk.
  6. Bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until the bread sounds hollow when tapping the bottom.
  7. Remove from the oven and cool down on a rack.
