Following a decision to leave the world of accountancy to pursue his passion for food, John McGovern attended the Ballymaloe Cookery School and subsequently worked in the renowned Pichet restaurant in Dublin.

This experience, coupled with his interest in cooking with healthy, fresh, clean produce, encouraged him to launch an online healthy meal delivery company in 2012 in Donnybrook, Dublin 4. Following the success of this business (20,000 meal delivered last year, with extensive media coverage and a high profile customer base), John identified a gap in the retail market for a Pure Kitchen branded premium chilled ready meal for real food lovers and sees SuperValu as the ideal partner to launch  the product nationwide.

SuperValu were exceptionally helpful and supportive in advising and guiding the development of the retail product. The product is very much in line with the SuperValu Good Food karma campaign, which is mutually beneficial.

The existing online business has 1000 loyal customers, in the busy young professional, health & wellness and quality family segments. The team comprises of 4 full time employees, based in Donnybrook and is taking on 1-2 additional employees in sales and marketing roles. The retail business will support Irish food suppliers and we are taking a partnership approach with the Irish farmer community as we only source 100% Irish meat.
