John Commins from Thurles in Tipperary, and Michael Fennelly from Stradbally in Laois, have been breeding Irish Piedmontese beef since 2006.
The cattle are bred and reared on their Bord Bia Quality-Assured family farms, yielding lean and tender beef, high in omega 3, with less than 2% fat. It is also much lower in calories and cholesterol than chicken or salmon.
They went into business in 2011 and have already won several awards for taste and flavour, including one for Piedmontese beef pastrami. SuperValu and Food Academy offered priceless support and advice, making sure the product was ready for launch. They also provided the perfect opportunity to promote their products across Tipperary and further afield. As a results, John and Michael plan to create more jobs and support the local economy.
