Martins Foley spent her childhood years growing up in their family country guesthouse with the delightful aroma of homebaking from the kitchen of her mother Marie (Granny Marie) whose baking skills were developed from the traditional "just like granny used to make recipes".
These home style treats became very familiar to their many frequently returning guests. From these delightful memories Martina naturally developed a love of baking and after a career change Martina discovered that this labour of love could be developed into a business venture and so the aptly named "Granny Marie's Bakehouse" was created in early 2016.
Martina has a range of traditional tasting cakes and afternoon tea cakes, baked from family recipes, which include a very moist Lemon Drizzle Cake and lovely coffee and lemon Afternoon Tea Cakes.
Since starting her business, Martina has completed the SuperValu Food Academy programme through her local enterprise office in Kilkenny. This course offers Martina a wealth of knowledge from practical advise to mentoring. The information she received from the course workshops was invaluable to helping her scale up her business. She was initially selling her cakes and afternoon tea cakes in local shops and this course gave her the opportunity to also get onto the supermarket platform, for which she is very thankful.
The next step is to grow her business and bring new products to market in time.
