Gran grans foods

Nigel and Magaly Murray started Gran Grans foods early in 2014. Together they produce a variety of delicious sauces, preservers, chutneys and dressings in their custom built commercial kitchen in the picturesque village of Kilchreest located at the foothills of the Slieve Aughty mountains.

Gran Gran was Nigel’s granny, a name affectionately given to many granny’s here in Ireland.

Gran Gran Murray’s passion for traditional cooking was inspirational in Nigel becoming one of Galway’s leading chefs.

With over 50 years of combined cooking and hospitality experience Nigel and Magaly decided to pursue their dream of having their own food business. Combining Gran Gran Murray’s generational tried and tested recipes with Nigel culinary flair and Magaly’s eye for detail.

Gran Grans try where possible to source all their ingredients locally, Magaly a keen gardener grows the summer beetroot, gooseberries and apples for their products and herbs throughout the year for their chutneys and seafood sauces.

Gran Gran’s Food awareness of changing health trends have prepared all their products using only glutton free ingredients. Each of their products are additive, colour and preservative free.

The business, organically grown over the past 3 and half years now supplies to over 260 independent retail stores throughout Ireland, Gran Grans are ready to scale their business and begin an exciting new partnership with Supervalu stores nationwide.

Gran Grans have enjoyed success with Supervalu’s already! Lackagh, Portumna and Clifden are just three of the 7 Supervalu stores stocking Gran Gran’s foods products. Being part of Supervalu’s selected local suppliers has been very beneficial for us, we had the chance to grow our business and customer base while confirming us as local quality producer.

Supervalu’s core value of supporting local is echoed by Gran Gran’s also. Gran Gran’s Foods sources almost all its key ingredients from local suppliers, employs two part-time staff from the local village and participates and sponsors most local food events, fairs or craft shows.
