Café Velo was born in in June 2015 and brought life back to an often neglected George’s Quay in Cork. Since opening we have strived to use the best of local produce wherever possible. This has led us down the path of roasting our own coffee. We’ve partnered with Schluter Green Coffee merchants to give us a direct link back to the coffee farmers themselves. While the beans are not grown in Cork (obviously!), this partnership does provide us with a traceable path back to the coffee bean grower. We’ve sepent eighteen months in research and training to get to the stage where we consistantly produce a coffee we’re proud to put the Velo name to.
Rob Horgan graduated from the Royal Agricultural College in ’96. Since then Rob has spent the last 21 years working in the food industry with food manufacturing experience in the UK and Ireland.
