Saffron Pilau Rice


A lovely rice dish to accompany a dish of your choice!

  1. Melt the butter in a frying pan over a medium heat and add the onion. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, until softened. Add the rice and stir until the grains are coated in the butter.
  2. Pour in the stock or water, saff ron, salt and thyme. Bring to the boil and then cover with a tight-fitting lid. Turn the heat down to low and leave to cook for 10 minutes before turning off the heat. Don’t remove the lid, just leave the rice to continue cooking in the pan for about 5 minutes.
  3. The rice should have absorbed all the water and will just need fluffing up with a fork. Remove the thyme sprigs and add a knob of butter before serving.
