Applewood is a semi-hard, smoked cheddar cheese made from pasteurised cow’s milk. Crafted in Ilchester, Somerset, the makers start with English mature Cheddar, which is milled before the addition of a liquid smoke concentrate. It is then coated in mild paprika for an attractive golden appearance. Fantastic melted in a toastie or bruschetta with turkey and sundried tomatoes, it also works a treat grated over your favourite pasta dish.
Make up little bruschettas with layers of sundried tomatoes, smoked turkey and Applewood cheese then grill or grate some Applewood over pasta or even a baked potato for a lovely smokey taste.
