Janet Drew of Janet’s Country Fayre is probably best known as one of Ireland’s leading artisan producers of chutneys. Her Sweet Pepper Relish is considered by the Bridgestone Irish Food Guide to be “Probably the most copied artisan product ever produced in Ireland”.

Janet’s inspiration behind her wonderful new range of Janet’s Just Delicious pasta sauces is her lifelong love of all things Italian and also her concern to produce a range of delicious sauces with no added sugar or salt. She does that by using carrot puree as a natural sweetener. Currently Janet’s Just Delicious is the ONLY BRAND OF PASTA SAUCE ON SALE IN IRELAND WITH NO ADDED SUGAR OR SALT.

The range contains no additives or preservatives. Janet’s Just Delicious pasta sauces will really coat cooked pasta well and leave no oily residue on your plate. A single serving of Janet’s sauces is only 4 Weight Watchers points so for diet conscious customers they are a winner.

Ever conscious of busy mums and finicky children, Janet has cleverly pureed all the onions in her sauces so that children cannot pick them out! And when Janet is in-store doing tastings she regularly finds customers who will admit that they have a “Big Child” in their family who doesn’t like onions as well! Janet is keen to promote her sauces as general cooking sauces as well.

From her humble beginnings of producing from a tiny gate lodge in Westmeath in the late 1990’s Janet now produces from her state of the art custom built production facility in Kilcoole Co. Wicklow… hence the image of her black van whizzing round the Sugar Loaf Mountain on her label.

Although Janet now has an automated filling unit, she and her staff still cap by hand and all the products are hand-labelled. Janet’s passion is for production and she can stand over every jar of product that is made on a daily basis in Kilcoole. The pasta sauces have a 12 month shelf life and once opened and refrigerated will last for 5 days.

Janet joined Food Academy in 2014. Food Academy has been a unique opportunity for to introduce my brand of Janet’s Just Delicious pasta sauces to Supervalu customers.  Over the past eighteen months she has seen sales increase and customers loving our products; particularly because they contain no added sugar or salt, and are gluten free…… and of course they are "Just Delicious" and Irish made.

The sauces are now also in the main Italian pasta sauce section of Supervalu and this is as a result of the opportunity of being part of Food Academy. We have taken on an additional member of staff in production thanks to the success of Food Academy.
