Braised Cabbage Braised Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 - Cinnamon Stick
  • 1 - Cooking Apple
  • 50 g Muscovado Sugar
  • 1 - Onion sliced
  • 100 ml Port
  • 1 - Red Cabbage halved, cored and shredded.
  • 300 ml Red Wine
  • 1 pinch Salt and Pepper
  • 50 g Sultanas
  • 3 tbsp SuperValu Signature Tastes Cranberry and Port Relish

Method

  1. In a large saucepan, place the sliced onion, red cabbage, diced apple, brown sugar, sultana, cinnamon stick, port and red wine.
  2. Stir in the relish and season with salt & pepper.
  3. Cover the pan with a lid and over a very low heat, bring to the boil. Then reduce the heat and cook for 60-80 minutes.
  4. Set aside until needed or if prepared in advance place into an airtight container and store in the freezer.
