Ode to the GAA
The Search for an Ode to the Third Sunday in September

The Third Sunday in September is what the Irish Summer is all about and the day all GAA football supporters live for. SuperValu in association with the Colm Hayes Show on 2fm asked you to pen your ‘Ode to the Third Sunday in September’ to be in with a chance to become part of the GAA Football All Ireland Senior Championship Final.
This once in a lifetime opportunity offered the winner a chance not only to be there on All-Ireland Final day, but also to help inspire the 80,000+ crowd as their ode was printed in the most important and collectable item of the day‚ the match programme. Not only that, it was also read by Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh from the big screen at half time.
Congratulations to our Winner!
Congratulations to the winner of SuperValu’s Search for an Ode to the Third Sunday in September, Noreen McGarvey, from Dungloe Co. Donegal.
Noreen’s ode was inspired by her brother Declan, who played for the Donegal minors in Croke Park in 1991. Noreen and her daughter Amy attended the All Ireland Football Final, where legendary commentator Mícheál O’Muircheartaigh read out her ode at half time.
